22 February - Tauranga - Conversations with Pen Green
Facilitators: Felicity Norton and Tracy Gallagher (Pen Green)
Pen Green’s Baby and Toddler Nest is a high quality care and education setting for children aged 12 months to 3 years. The space is set up as
an open plan workshop environment, enabling children to access the resources they require freely. This encourages the children to move around
independently making their own choices and decisions about their play and learning experiences. The provision of sleep baskets allows the
children the opportunity to take a rest or have a sleep, according to their own natural sleep rhythm.

28 April - Rotorua - Building a Culture of Care, Energy and Enthusiasm
Facilitator: Wendy Lee
The most important and valuable resource any early childhood centre can have is the teachers. How the teachers work together has a major
part to play in the success of the centre and the learning outcomes that can be achieved for the children. Building strong, powerful learning
cultures – this is a vision held by many early childhood teachers. This conference will explore ways of building a strong caring community
using Fish Philosophy. The Fish Philosophy provides some surprising possibilities for building a rich and fabulous learning community. Fish
Philosophy has created new possibilities for organisations and schools around the world. It is time to catch the energy and release the
potential. I believe that everyone has the right to expect joy and fun in their workplace, come along and learn a few strategies to make a
difference in your life.

At no other time has the significance of building sustainable leadership been so important. This seminar will explore the principles of
sustainable leadership; sharing and discussing practical ways in which this might be achieved in an early childhood setting. Sustainable
leadership comes from within learning communities where teachers are passionate about learning and teaching. Distributed leadership provides
one of the much needed pathways for sustainable leadership. If you work towards integrating the principles of sustainable leadership you will make powerful and transformational changes in your early childhood setting.
